The museum is built by many hands
The Atlas of Spirits will never be the work of one person. It needs those who know — historians, distillers, collectors, librarians, translators, and anyone stubbornly devoted to a category or a terroir.
Five ways to add your stone
- Write and verify entries — documenting a category, a terroir, a technique or a historic house, with its sources.
- Bring specialist expertise — do you know a region, a process or a period inside out ? That is exactly what a general database lacks.
- Translate — the Atlas is meant to exist in English, then in the languages of the touring exhibition's stops.
- Search the archives — working through collections, finding primary sources, documenting houses that no longer exist.
- Lend a hand at events — fairs, talks, future exhibitions: the project will need hands and goodwill.
A documentary database, not a forum
The Atlas is meant to become a reference. That imposes a method : every statement must be sourceable, every entry is proofread before publication, and SpiLi's future scholarly board will carry out the final validation of content.
That is why contributions go through an application rather than open editing. This is not about filtering out enthusiasm, but about making sure that what is published can be cited — including by institutions.
In return, every contributor is credited, and joins the contributors' college of the preparatory association. The most substantial contributions will be credited in the museum's own content.
